The psalmist reminds us that as we seek the Lord in humility that God will always be faithful to us. We can always count on the Lord being there for us as we serve Him in all of our ways. It is God who is our fuel for doi

Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. 1 I love you, LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. 4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. 5 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. 6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for he

They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD. 5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! The psalmist continues to bemoan the human condition. He is worn out by people not living up to what they have said and it appears that gossip and flattery were just as present in his day as in ours. I.e. There is nothing new under the sun. But the Psalmist turns to God’s words for inspiration and hope. For God’s words are flawless like a preciou

Although it seems like God is far away and we often wonder how involved he is in our lives, the psalmist today reminds us that God observes “everyone” on earth. There is a saying that character is described as

The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. 15 Break the arm of the wicked man; call the evildoer to account for his wickedness that would not otherwise be found out. Oftentimes those being afflicted feel as if the LORD is far from them, but God hears their cries. Much like Joseph, who was in prison for 12 long years, God heard his voice and eventually vindicated him. Though it appears that evil sometimes wins the day, in the long scheme of things, evil is found out and dealt with.

Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? 2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. 3 He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD. 4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. The psalmist wonders why God stands far off when there is so much wickedness on the earth. He describes the man whose life is lived out incessantly trying to fulfill only their immediate wants/desires. This person is so filled with thoughts a
