Day 40 The Last Day in Lent

Day 40 Matthew 6:33

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well.”

This is a great way to end our 40 day Lenten devotional. I hope you have enjoyed it. We have surveyed two chapters in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, his most extensive body of teaching.  The primary purpose of the Sermon on the Mount was for Jesus to teach that he has made the kingdom of God available to us. In this passage, he says, “Seek First”.  Jesus challenges our priorities.  We are all busy, that is a given.

But I want you to ask yourself a question at the end of this journey in Lent,  What are you doing in your life that will last for all of eternity? This is the most important question you can ask yourself? And a good question to ponder every day!  Participating in God’s kingdom coming on earth, as it is in heaven, is one of the greatest privileges we have as Jesus’ followers. As the bible says, “Seek and you shall find!” May this journey throughout Lent be the start, or re-start, of a life dedicated to making a difference in the kingdom that will last into all of eternity.

Jesus, you have given us an opportunity to live the abundant life we have always wanted. Help us to seek you, what you are doing, and follow your prompting the power of the Holy Spirit and we promise to give you all the glory for what you will do through us. Amen.
