Mark 14 Can We Be Like Judas? At What Price?

Jesus Arrested

43 Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!” and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.” 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.
Though Judas was the one who "officially" betrayed Jesus, he wasn't the only one who betrayed him.  After the mob took Jesus, it says that everyone deserted and fled.  Even Peter, who promised Jesus he would never disown him, denied him three times vehemently denying that he ever knew him.  In that sense they all betrayed Jesus.
What strikes me about Judas though, is how little money he took to betray Jesus.  In Matthew we learn it was 30 pieces of silver, or about a month's pay.  This was also the cost of a slave a master owed if the slave was accidentally killed.  Although Judas sold Jesus out "on the "cheap", he paid a steep price.  Matthew's version says that Judas returned the money to the chief priests and then went out and hung himself. Obvioiusly Judas was extremely remorseful and realized what a huge mistake he had made.
But the question I want to ask today is, "At what price would we sell Jesus out?"  What would it take for us to either walk away and flee like the other disciples, or be bought with a price like Judas?  Although we marvel at what a small amount of money it took for Judas to sell out Jesus, I wonder it what ways do we cheapen what Jesus has done for us?
Although it is not a perfect analogy, any time I flee from being identified with Jesus I am selling him out.  And depending on what it takes for me to do this, I could be selling him out for something like 30 pieces of silver.   At what price would you sell out Jesus?  Might be something to think about.
