Why Judging Others is Very Dangerous?

God’s Righteous Judgment

Romans 2 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
In chapter 1 Paul writes that all people are without excuse, because what can be known about God is clear when we look at Creation.  In effect he is saying Creation shows there is a Creator.  And if there is a Creator, we are accountable to this Creator.  After describing some examples of people worshipping idols, Paul points out the temptation for the Roman believers would be for them to judge these people.
Paul lays out several key principles regarding judging others.
1. When you judge others you condemn yourself, because no one is without guilt including you.
2. When you pass judgment on others since you are guilty as well, you should very careful with the judgment you use, because it will be used on you as well.
3. God's judgment is based on truth, where often our judgment is based on our own selective judgment.  I.e. We like to pick out certain sins we think are most deserving of judgment, while neglecting the issues we struggle with.
4. When we judge others we are in effect negating God's grace and mercy, which is meant to lead people to Christ.  In other words, we should be more concerned with extending the same mercy we need to other sinners like us.
Many people in the world use the word "judgmental" to describe Christians, while we should the most gracious and merciful people on the planet.  After all, when we think of all our sins past, present, and into the future, who are we to judge anyone but ourselves!
