How Can We Know God Cares for Us? - Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Worship is putting God in the place which He deserves, which helps us understand the place we deserve.  As we consider the greatness of God, we have a proper view of ourselves.  The psalmist David is humbled when he gazes on the sun, the moon and the stars and how they reflect the majesty of God.  As he contemplates the wondrous world that  God has  made, it humbles him to realize that God cares about him.

It seems that if we get this one thing right, who God is and who we are in light of Him, our lives will take on a whole new trajectory.  And it also makes it more meaningful that God stepped into this world through His Son, Jesus, to make himself personally known to us.  This is how he was mindful of us and cared for us and continues to care for us.

Spend some time over the next few days reflecting on the beauty of the sun, the moon and the stars (if they are out!)  As you think about the One who created it all, consider how awesome it is that we can know this God and He cares about us.  Yes that's right this incredible God cares about you and me!
